Hello Models!!!
This week you need to submit a photo based on a Music Genre. Overall, I'm impressed with the performance this week. Let's start the judging session
Alex 'Punk'
Jared: I love this. The quality isn't great, but who cares! The photo is. It actually looks like it's shot on location for a video, so I'm glad you have the nifty background to work with your torn up clothing. I'm really glad you took a risk instead of giving something simple and expected.
Gwen: As Jared said, I could see this being a promotional shot for a Punk music video you're making. The hairstyle along with the paint streak on your head are very much elements of Punk along with all of your piercings. The only qualm I have with this picture is that it looks like a shot that was just snapped of you rather than a modeling pic. However, the theme incorporation is great this week.
Natalia: It's very bold. It's very risky but that's what I love about this photo. I can see the punk in this photo and I do think the quality should be better but I still love this photo. Nice job
Andrew 'Indie Folk'
Jared: Thank you for including a link and description because I'm not exactly sure what Indie Folk is. I know Folk music, but wasn't sure about the Indie. I definitely see Folk music in your picture. I'll believe you on the suit since it's your music lol I like this. The smile and setting and lighting all says Folk music to me with a touch of Country. It's a good picture and I think you did a wonderful job.
Gwen: As just a shot, I really like this photo. As an Indie Folk shot, I'm not as solid on it, but I do still like it. The setting definitely works; there's no question there. I'm just not 100 on the suit for the shot. However, there are aspects to the clothing choice that I do see Indie Folk elements to. I like that you're giving us a different angle than we normally see here, too.
Natalia: I like this photo a lot. I do see the resemblance with the Indie Folk. I love your styling and you setting really helped you in term of injecting the 'Indie Folk' mood in this photo. I think you can work on your face angle more but overall, I like this!!!
Bradley 'Rock & Roll'
Jared: I'm also a huge fan of what I refer to as REAL Rock & Roll, and that's rock from the 60s to the 80s lol I can see this being in a video from then. Your hair is longer here so that right away is heading in the right direction lol I love your eyes as usual and your face is just really nice here. Good job.
Gwen: You're definitely doing rock right in this photo and I love the rock look in general. The setting, styling, and vibe of the photo all fit perfectly. To me, you could feasibly be in a rock band with this photo. A "real rock band" as Jared would put it. Now if you'll excuse me, I suddenly want to go listen to The Doors.
Natalie: Not my favorite photo from you actually. I think you a little bit lost and I don't find this photo has the enough swag to be a rock and roll photo. I do like the setting and styling. But I want to see more!!
Dylan 'Pop'
Gwen: Your photo is 12 hours late, so I'll have to take that into consideration when I do my ranking. That said, I'm not really sold on this photo. I think it's mainly the expression on your face. It seems more like an outtake from a shoot than the shot we're supposed to see. I do like the clothing you're wearing, but not really seeing anything in the picture that really makes me think of "pop" or really any other genre for that matter.
Jared: You're lucky the pain I'm feeling woke me up otherwise I wouldn't have seen this since you're so late. You look like Rick Astley dancing so bravo there. I'm just not sure I can say I like this photo more than the others.
Natalia: You should ask for extension because I'm very considerate and generous when it comes to give the extension needed to the models. I like the styling. I do see Pop, but other than that, I didn't feel like you are comfortable enough in this photo
Gareth 'Hip Hop'
Jared: This definitely screams hip hop to me, but I can't say it's my favourite. I do like it and your abs are good for the photo. It's your expression. Everything is almost perfect I just wish there was something more with your expression.
Gwen: To me, you look more like the "Bad Boy" in a boy band than a rapper. I can see the rap-inspired elements of the photo, but nothing that's enough to make me cross over into that genre. It's a little like "Abercrombie and Fitch trying to look tough". Also, it's a bit hard to see you. While the photo itself is large enough, the scale is a bit off.
Natalia: Not a fan of your expression but I do see the hip hop here. Great setting. I love the graffiti on the wall. It's tightening the element of Hip Hop. Overall, I like it
Justin 'Opera'
Jared: I like this. You're handsome. I like your expression and your suit. I get what you're going for but then I get lost. I feel almost like you're just posing for the camera. Which I mean, it's what you're all doing, but for this theme, I wish there was a bit more OOMPH with the pose. Some more background, something else in your expression, something more anywhere in this photo would have given you more.
Gwen: Like Jared, I am left wanting more from this photo. However, you appear to be modeling more in this shot than in many of the other shots we've seen from you, so that's good. That also does look like a nice opera suit.
Natalia: I find this photo is too safe. But you do look handsome in this photo. I love your jaw line here. I don't think this photo is memorable enough but you're definitely safe from the elimination this week
Matt '50's Rock & Roll'
Jared: Matt, this is good. Your hair is perfect, the diner setting is perfect. I like this a lot. The jukebox in the back ground. You did great!
Gwen: I love this photo. The clothing and styling fit perfectly with the theme you've chosen and the setting only compliments the picture. Love the pose, too.
Natalia: I've been hosting over 26 cycles, but your explanation is definitely the best one. I don't even need to see the photo to know that you submitted a great photo and I was right. This is great, very modelesque and I'm so impressed with you Matty!!! Great setting, great styling.... Great job!!! You just got 5 'greats' from me!!!
Nicholas 'Jazz'
Jared: This is good. Quality sucks but I'm never a stickler for quality cuz I know how hard it can be. As long as it's not fuzzy and it works then it's good enough for me. I love your pose and styling. A bit more relaxed facial expression would be nice, but otherwise, this is really good.
Gwen: The quality of the photo itself is a bit lacking, but other than that, it's nothing but positive. I can see your gerne in this shot and I like the pose. Also, we don't tend to see very many profile shots and it adds variety to your portfolio.
Natalia: For me, this is the great example of the profile shot. You face structure look so amazing. I want you to defend and explain your photo actually but I do see the jazz here from the hat. Aside from the quality, I love this
Taecyeon 'Dance' & 'Rock & Roll'
Jared: Your dance picture is good. You're showing personality and having fun. The lighting works wonders. I don't like the Rock & Roll one. The black leather is really all that fits. Your hair, styling, expression and setting really don't scream Rock & Roll at all. The Dance one is my pick.
Gwen: I like your Dance photo better, so it's the one I'll focus on. I want to start off by saying that I know you're a rapper, so I appreciate you not choosing "Rap" as your genre. That would have been too easy. I like the fun and energy of your Dance shot and the lighting works really well. The reason I didn't go with your Rock shot is that other than the way you're dressed, I don't get Rock from it.
Natalia: I'm not going to critique the rock one cause I think the dance is so much better. I love the setting especially the lighting. I can feel the dance music in your photo. Fantastic job, Taecyeon!!! You make me want to dance
